2984 is a fifteen minute drama focusing on a  society in the future. In this post-apocalyptical environment, the world population has diminished radically and  man is threatened with extintion;  partly because of  ecological and nuclear catastrophe  and also because of the appearance of various types of unknown and uncontrollable diseases. As an desperate attempt to continue human life on the planet, extreme and drastic measures are adopted; individuals are stratified in five categories  according to their risk category, and any form of human contact, particularly inter-categories, is forbidden. Into this chaotic world Mary and Antony fall in love and defying the institutions they dream on an utopic normality.

(2’04”, Super-8, U-matic, UK)
DIRECTION/REGIA CÉSAR MENEGHETTI
CAST: CÉSAR MENEGHETTI, CLAUDIA SEABRA
A video about circles and cycles. The motion is basically composed of a three second Super-8 loop portraying an action involving a couple spinning in circles as metaphor of the ordinary cycle in the human history. A parallel analogy through film and tape language: a series of filming and re-filming with video and super-8 from the TV screen or Super-8 projection. Related to the editing of this circular pieces and relating this to a rotation of a record player, playing the theme music: “a woman can take you to another universe but sometimes she just leaves you there” by John Lurie, which itself belongs to another film.

Calvino writes “...when arriving in a new city the traveller re-encounters a past in which he did not remember to existing; the surprise of what he left behind of pursuing, of being, it reveals in the most strange places, not in the familiar ones - little that is its, discovering a lot that has not had and ". A man and its city. The anthropomorphist image is a metaphor to the human condition in a chaotic environment like the megalopolis of São Paulo. In the middle of 21 million inhabitants a story told in subjective view and no dialogues has just started making to emerge inner conflicts in the urban surroundings. Subjectively and objectively. Reality and dream. All in once. Simultaneously.
Obiettivo e soggettivo. Realtà e sogno. Tutto in una volta. Simultaneamente.
